FutureFeed adds Fremantle Seaweed as a cultivation partner

FutureFeed, the global IP holder for the use of Asparagopsis in livestock feed, has welcomed Fremantle Seaweed as a cultivation partner in its growing network of industry collaborators. This partnership marks a strategic step forward in scaling the production of Asparagopsis, a red seaweed discovered by CSIRO to reduce methane emissions in cattle by over 80%.
As a cultivation partner, Fremantle Seaweed and FutureFeed have committed to collaborating to develop Fremantle Seaweed’s capacity to grow and produce Asparagopsis feed additives. Fremantle Seaweed cultivate the high-impact seaweed in the pristine waters off Western Australia and is preparing to scale operations to meet rising interest from cattle producers.
“Cattle farmers are facing growing pressure and incentives to reduce emissions whilst maintaining productivity,” said Fremantle Seaweed’s Co-Founder and CEO, Chris de Cuyper.
“We’re committed to helping farmers meet these challenges through sustainable innovation, which is why we couldn’t be more pleased to partner with FutureFeed.
“By combining our operational know how with FutureFeed’s IP leadership, we aim to bring Asparagopsis to market faster and support resilient farming systems across Australia and globally.”
FutureFeed plays a pivotal role in commercialising Asparagopsis by working with a select group of partners across the value chain to ensure quality and integrity of Asparagopsis products.
“FutureFeed is excited to collaborate with Fremantle Seaweed and progressing them towards becoming a license holder,” said FutureFeed’s CEO, Alex Baker.
“Fremantle Seaweed is poised to demonstrate the potential of ocean-based cultivation for scale and impact thus well aligned with our mission.”
This cultivation partnership precedes a commercial IP license, which both parties are actively working toward.
