FutureFeed is pleased to welcome Tasmanian aquaculture company, Sea Forest, to its group of licensees.

Nathaniel Last, CEO of FutureFeed, said the license was the result of a shared commitment to achieving meaningful impact by using Asparagopsis seaweed to slash methane production in ruminants.

“When I visited Sam, Steve and the team at their site in Triabunna last year, it was a great opportunity to see their Asparagopsis growing operations and learn more about the efforts they have put into cultivating this seaweed”

“They have significant amounts of existing infrastructure and capital as well as a highly skilled team and we look forward to seeing them in market.”

“Their passion for change and innovation was forefront and we are thrilled to welcome them to what is a growing group of dedicated licensees taking this technology to market”

With its headquarters in Triabunna, Tasmania, Sea Forest is focused on developing world-class cultivation methods for Asparagopsis through both land and marine based faming operations.

Sam Elsom, CEO of Sea Forest, said the signing of the licence is an important step in the company’s commercialisation program.

“We’ve spent years optimising the cultivation of Asparagopsis and it’s now pertinent timing to secure a FutureFeed license and be able to take Asparagopsis to the market commercially”

“We’ve spent the last few years unpacking the complex science involved in growing commercial quantities of Asparagopsis and are cultivating more of the seaweed than ever before”

“With the seaweed science developed and our attention turning to commercial pilots, the timing of the FutureFeed licence aligns well”

FutureFeed’s licenses are a way of building trust and credibility in this emerging industry. Our licence ensures growers comply with standards developed by the industry so we can all be confident in the methane-reduction statements of the meat, wool and dairy products on our shelves.
